As long as it isn't tole painting...

I have a strange feeling that my mom wants me to be crafty. It all started with a sewing machine she gave me a few years ago and has escalated each birthday and Christmas since. I have a ton of beads and jewelery making tools. She as given me some beautiful material to make a quilt. I have received a measuring mat and rotary cutter (and that was just because it was on sale).

This Christmas she gave me a Cricut. Every scrapbooker knows what a Cricut is and is probably dieing to get one. I, however, had only heard of it because my scrapbooker sister-in-law wanted one for Christmas. I was a little scared when I found one sitting under the tree for me. Did my mom expect me to start scrapbooking? And since when had preserving memories gotten so technical? This is one time I was happy to find out my mom did not have high expectations, she just wants me to have fun with it. And I have!

I have only made two things so far, but am pretty proud of them. It took me two months to make the thank you card.

My thank you cards for Christmas presents.

A handout to ladies I visit teach.

Also, my quilt is coming along great! In fact, by some people's definition of quilting I'm an expert. My definition: Quilting (n.) the process of starting a quilt and then stopping and then never picking it up again.

You are pretty much amazing. Will you teach me how to quilt like you?

That reminds me of a Beastie Boys song I once heard "she's crafty.." but I think their context was not about quilting and jewelry making. I still think that should be your theme song as you endeavor to find your hidden talents :)

I hate you...I've made like 5 cards and none of them are as cute as the 1 you have made!! You have some serious natural talent, sis!

I am the proud recipient of the first thank you card, which I never properly thanked you for. It is adorable - and I am one of those scrapbookers who would love to have a Cricut! Maybe for Mother's Day...
