First Impressions

The townhome I live in is pretty big. We have enough rooms for an office, my own craft room, and a guest room, but is there a mud room? No. So our entryway gets pretty cluttered and fast. So I've been formulating a plan. Well, plan A was to go out and buy a hall tree. (That is a really big piece of furniture that usually has a bench and hooks and baskets that you put in your entry way.) The only one I could find was at Pier One and was out of my price range. (Plus it seemed kind of flimsy.)

So I decided to go with plan B and take these things and turn them into my own hall tree.

Ta da! One weekend and $60 later we have a fake hall tree. (Did you know foam is expensive!?!) We painted the magnet board frame, painted and upholstered our old coffee table, bought some hooks, and repurposed some baskets. We still plan on tufting the bench.

It is really nice to have a place to put Charlie's car seat and gear. It was always just sitting on the floor behind the couch before. It is also really nice to have an organized magnet board. I got the two prints for free from a free art website. If anyone asks about it, I might tell ya the web address. I'm nice like that.

Now I just need to find a coffee table to replace the one I just upholstered.

Looks good! My favorite part is the upholstered coffee table. I could really go wild reupholstering things, if I knew how to do it...
