The Little Mermaid: At World's End

Over the weekend I saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It was pretty good, but I've decided that all those critics who said the writers couldn't come up with enough new material were absolutely correct. They actually stole from The Little Mermaid! (I'm sure that every little girl who grew up watching Ariel saw the comparisons right away.) Case in point:

In The Little Mermaid
1. Ursula gets really big
2. She speaks in a really menacing, low voice
3. She creates a huge whirlpool that sucks ships into it
4. After many frightening moments, only Ursula ends up dying

In Pirates
1. One of the characters (I won't say names for those of you who haven't seen it) gets really big
2. She/he speaks in a really menacing, low voice
3. She/he creates a huge whirlpool that sucks ships into it
4. After many people die, there are only a few more frightening moments

The Little Mermaid is pretty much the best Disney movie ever, but come on Disney, I expect more out of you! You should at least bill the movie as "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End: Based on The Little Mermaid." That is all I ask.

Did you come up with that parallel on your own? It's amazing!! You're so right.
