Give Hope!

I don't know why it has taken me so long to post about this. I need to get on the ball!

One of my favorite roommates in college has two children that are just adorable, Claire, age 2, and Benson, age 4. When Claire was about three months old they found out she was in kidney failure. Imagine the shock! After many tests they found out that she has a rare genetic disease and will need both a liver and kidney transplant. And, yes, I said genetic. So they checked their son, and found out that he too has the disease. He will also need to get the transplants. I don't even want to try to imagine the shock!

Claire's case has gotten critical and she is waiting right now for her liver and kidneys. Unfortunately while waiting she had to go in for surgery on her permanent catheter, the docotor's hand slipped and into open heart surgery she went! It has been a crazy month getting back to a normal routine after that, but they are doing it. Well, they still have a few bumps in the road...like Claire breaking both of her legs last week. I know. Give them a moment's rest!

Anyway, now that you know their story I'm sure you understand that they have some major medical bills to pay. That is why they are holding an online auction right now with some pretty great things to bid on. Please go check it out and bid, bid, bid on some things. By doing this you are giving hope to Benson and Claire!

Read more about them on their blog: http://givehopetobensonandclaire.blogspot.com.

Holy crap, this story is amazing. I'm posting about it on my blog, too. You can count on me for the auction! I love auctions, especially when I know they are going toward a great cause. Thanks for sharing this.
