Accountability...what's that?

I am not usually into making New Year's resolutions because if you don't make any then you can't break 'em! Am I right, or am I right.

However, I do eventually want to become a better person and setting a few goals can help get me there. Hopefully. Maybe. We'll see...

And I hear one of the best ways to make sure your goals are kept is to actually tell people about them. That way you can't just quietly forget you ever made them. So I'm telling all three people who read my blog about my goals for 2010.

Short list:
1. Go to the temple twice a month.
2. Eat at home more.
3. Make exercise into a habit.

Expanded list for people who want to read a novel:
1. Go to the temple every other week/two times a month. Seth and I actually started this in November and it has been awesome. I have decided that making the decision to go to the temple alone is the best decision I have ever made. Before that we would miss months all the time because it was such a bother to plan on getting a babysitter. Now every week one of us plans on going to the temple (usually before work in the morning) while the other is home with Charlie. And now when we do get a babysitter we get to go out and do something fun together for a couple of hours instead of being separated the whole time. Thanks to my sister for the idea.

2. Eat at home more. I signed up for e-Mealz.com after hearing about it on Dave Ramsey. For $5 a month they plan five meals a week and make the grocery list for you. I can't even tell you how many conversations Seth and I have had about the possibility of hiring someone to do meal planning/grocery shopping for us (I think this has been a topic of conversation once a week for the last five years). Hopefully this will take care of it for us and we will be eating at home more often.

3. I'm sure you've heard people say that if you do something for 21 days it becomes a habit. Well, I'm not sure if that is true but I'm going to test it out. Seth and I are going to pick one thing each month that we want to become a habit and do it for 21 days. January's habit is exercise. We are starting P90x five times a week tomorrow (7:30 am baby!). So we will for sure be doing it for three weeks. Hopefully by then it will be a habit and I will love it. Or at least not mind it. Or tolerate it enough to keep going for the full 90 days. We'll see. I already have a few ideas for my 21-day habit in February. Any guesses????
